Recording Aqua Atra at Core Studios. Stepping into the studio to record Aqua Atra was a defining moment for Sol Onyx. From the first day at Core Studios, it was clear this EP was going to be more than just a collection of songs. The environment encouraged focus and honesty, and working with producer Nik Carpenter gave us the space to explore ideas without pressure or ego. Aqua Atra (Latin for “dark water”) dives into themes of weight, tension, and release. Recording it meant late nights of writing and tightening guitar harmonies, then walking back into the studio the next day ready to commit those ideas to tape. The process was intense but deeply rewarding. Nik’s approach was a huge part of that experience. He was calm, open, and completely supportive of experimentation. When we felt something needed to change, he let the process play out naturally, allowing creativity to flow rather than forcing decisions. That trust helped us capture performances that felt raw, intentional, and true to who we are. Each track evolved organically in the studio. Small shifts in dynamics, tone, and texture shaped the atmosphere we were chasing heavy and immersive, but still human at its core. These sessions pushed us creatively and helped solidify the identity of Sol Onyx.

Aqua Atra marks an important chapter for us, and we’re incredibly proud of what came out of those sessions. The EP is coming soon.
